Rolling Service Doors are also known as upward acting coiling doors. These doors consist of an articulating slatted curtain fabricated from steel, aluminum or stainless steel. The doors also have guides in which the curtain travels, a torsion spring barrel assembly, support brackets, a hood and a method of operation.
Commercial Roll Up Doors
Rolling Service Doors are designed for commercial, industrial and institutional applications. They can be designed for high cycle applications as well. They are available in gauges from 24 gauge to 16 gauge depending on the size and application of the door.
There are a wide range of finishes available. Steel can be pre-painted from a selection of standard colors as well as powder coated in over 185 different colors. Custom matching is also available. Stainless steel is available in mill finish and No. 4 polished. Aluminum finishes mill finish, clear anodized bronze anodized and powder coated.
If your application calls for a heavy duty, commercial grade, upward acting door, then a Rolling Service Door could be your best option.

Rolling Steel Fire Doors are similar to rolling doors with the added benefit of offering fire protection. Rolling Steel Fire Doors when properly installed and maintained prevent the spread of fire in a building. The doors are meant to compartmentalize areas of a building in order to contain the spread of fire. The doors will close upon actuation of a fusible link, a smoke detector and or the building alarm system.
Rolling Fire Doors have similar options as rolling doors. They can be fabricated of steel or stainless steel. They are available in a variety of finishes. They can be operated by chain hoist or motor operation. Smoke seals are available to prevent the spread of smoke as well as fire.
Fire Doors for Your Business
One key element of a Rolling Fire Door is the ease at which the door can be tested. The National Fire Protection Association requires that all Rolling Fire Doors be tested on an annual basis. Automated systems make it very easy to have your fire doors tested. Any fire door testing should be done by Certified Rolling Fire Door Technicians. Certification is offered by the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA).
J & L Door Service, LLC technicians are Certified Rolling Steel Fire Door Technicians by IDEA.

Upward acting sectional doors are very similar to the garage door on your house. The difference being, they are built for commercial and industrial applications. They also come in a wider variety of sizes including doors as wide as 30 to 40 feet depending on the manufacturer.
These doors are available in non-insulated and insulated sections. The sections are available in a variety of widths depending on the application. The sections travel in 2 inch or 3 inch track using rollers attached to the sections. The size of the track is determined by the application for the door.
Upward acting sectional doors can be push up, chain hoist, trolley motor operators or side mounted jackshaft operators. Frequency of usage and door size is a determining factor in selecting a means of operation.
Insulated sections can be filled with laid-in-place polystyrene or foam-in-place polyurethane insulation. R-Values can be in the 20’s depending on section thickness and the type of insulation used.

High performance doors offer a variety of features and benefits to address a wide variety of application issues. High performance doors offer the following features:
Impactability – The doors can be constructed of fabric or rubber allowing the door to be impacted without damaging the curtain, the largest part of the door. Many have break-away bottom bars that allow the door to be easily reset back in to the guides and can be operational without a service call to repair the door.
High Speed Overhead Doors
Speed – High performance doors can travel up to 48″ to 60″ per second. This speed in which the opening can be secured is provided the following benefits:
- Minimizes the loss of heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer.
- Improves productivity – no more waiting for a large door to open or close.
High performance doors also help to minimize service calls and expensive repairs. They typically are designed for 300,000 to 1,000,000 operational cycles. They have fewer moving parts than a sectional overhead door. The impactibility is a huge savings, no damaged sections or slatted curtains. Though a high performance door is typically more expensive up front, the long term operation costs can be lower than a sectional or rolling door. J & L Door Service, LLC offer a wide variety of high performance doors to meet your requirements.

When you are having your electric gate operator installed, you have a couple of options for getting power to the gate operator. You may end up connecting your gate operator to your main electrical supply for your business. This is very common and makes a lot of sense, but sometimes the closest source of power is cost-prohibitive to use. If you have a long driveway or parking lot to get into your facility, you may not have a nearby source of power. In these cases, you should look at a solar setup that will provide you with the power you need, where you need it. Whether you need a sliding gate operator or a swing gate operator, J&L Door Service can help to provide you with all the information you need and can install your electric gate operator so that it provides you with years of trouble-free usage.
Gate Openers and Operators for Sliding and Swinging Gates
When it comes to gate operators, there are two options that are available for your gate. The slide operator is the way to go when you have space off to one side or the other for your gate to move into when it is open. Alternatively, you can have a swing gate operator that sweeps your gate open, or in some cases, you may have split your gate into two halves and you have one or both halves open. In either case, when you or anyone else is leaving your Streetsboro, Chesterland, Cleveland, Solon, Painesville, Mentor, or surrounding area property, there can be a mechanism for the gate to open automatically when you get to a certain point in front of the gate. Contact J&L Door Service today to have your gate operator properly installed.
